CMSI would like to announce the development of "NAMS® on Demand" designed for the smaller telephone companies that have a tendency to out source their tele-management functions for cost effectiveness and time efficiency. Several consulting firms approached CMSI to create an outsourcing package that would be cost-effective for the smaller telephone companies to help identify phantom traffic within their smaller networks. "NAMS® on Demand" report categories include:

  • Common Toll Exceptions Reports both wire line / wireless w/ Jurisdiction
  • Intra/LATA Toll Exception Reports both wire line / wireless w/ Jurisdiction
  • EAS groups that are both wire line/wireless w/ Jurisdiction
  • Dedicated wireless transiting calls.

CMSI supports the “honor system” used within the inter-carrier compensation structure and is proud to help identify any call laundering that takes place.

CMSI announces release of Nortel SL-100 SMDR AFT collector. The traditional way of call collection is by serial communication which often resulted in loss of records in the event of system or operational failure. AFT provides a protocol within which call record transfer is repeated or restarted upon system or operational failure resulting in a more reliable collection system. As an exhibitor at the Emory University SL100 Users group held in Atlanta, Georgia, CMSI was the only company Nortel certified with an AFT collector for the SL100 switch.

10/14/2004
CMSI attended the Expo 2004 NECA Convention that was held in Las Vegas, Nevada. This was extremely beneficial to CMSI because one of the main topics discussed was Phantom Traffic. CMSI’s Phantom Tracker™™ software was demonstrated continuously throughout the Expo due to the overwhelming discussion of the issue. Our software has been able to help telephone companies claim lost revenue by having valid reports that are tangible to give to state regulators or to the carrier that misroutes the traffic. This software will save companies thousands of dollars each month.

Formed in 1983 by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), NECA is a not-for-profit corporation whose members are local telephone companies. Carrier Management Systems new Phantom Tracker™™ software helps identify traffic being wrongfully terminated on common or toll groups. Reporting on EAS and Toll Group Phantom Usage, Phantom Tracker™™ breaks the usage down by LATA/MTA jurisdiction so that Intra-LATA toll groups, EAS groups and Common toll groups can be accurately analyzed. The rampant number of cases that have been filed with state regulatory agencies across the US in recent months exemplifies the serious problem of lost revenue caused by incorrect traffic terminations. CMSI’s software helps the telephone company accurately claim what has until now been unidentified phantom traffic. By helping telephone companies increase revenue by identifying unbilled calls, Phantom Tracker™™ provides a relatively short return on investment.

02/16/2004
CMSI attends the 50th Anniversary of the Annual NTCA Convention and Expo, which took place in Miami, Florida. CMSI launched the new EAS Exception Reporting software. Carrier Management Systems Inc. is proud to announce the development of the new EAS Exception Reporting software. Most local and long distance telephone companies operate on the honor system when paying each other to originate and terminate telephone calls within a specific Local Rate Center. Unfortunately, many local telephone companies are losing thousands of dollars per month in unbilled access charges due to the incumbents routing long-distance traffic over trunks that are only dedicated to carry EAS calls. Local telephone companies often do not have the ability to analyze this traffic. Even if studies by third party consulting companies are performed, it is over a specific period and at a significant cost. Most telephone companies realize that there’s always some amount of questionable traffic, but now this appears to be much more rampant than was ever expected.

Carrier Management Systems new EAS Exception Reporting software will help your company identify long-distance traffic that was terminated over trunks designated for only local traffic. Actually this software will work for all trunk groups, not just EAS and also will break down the traffic by jurisdiction.

04/6/2002

Carrier Management Systems, Inc. today announced the successful deployment of their NAMS® Centralized BMX for Nortel DMS-10 switch. Working with Moapa Valley Telephone Coop., an independent telephone company in Overton, Nevada, CMSI installed and certified the system for use on March 14th. Cal Lyon, Moapa Valley Telephone Company’s President and General Manager said, "Frankly, we were worried about the loss of support on our BMC. The NAMS® BMX for our DMS-10 not only provides more redundancy than we had with our BMC and a much faster billing transfer, it also provides us with some great software applications not available to DMS-10 users before now. CMSI support personnel also coordinated a very smooth billing record transfer cut with our billing company that eased our concerns about making a transition of this nature".

03/01/2002
Carrier Management Systems, Inc. announced the completion of their NAMS® Centralized BMX product. NAMS® BMX will be marketed to Independent Telephone Companies using the Nortel DMS-10 switch.

The BMX interface to the DMS-10 used for AMA collection includes a card exclusively manufactured for Carrier Management Systems, Inc. and utilizes the latest FPGA (field programmable gate array) technology.
